This year Redmi has launched their latest top of the line Redmi Note 12 Pro on 5th January 2023 with similar top-notch specifications. This time the Redmi has launched Redmi Note 12 Pro in three variants 6GM 128GB,8GB + 128GB AND 8GB + 256GB and the price starts from, 24999 which goes up to 27,999 which according to us is quiet in higher side.

As we all know that there is a very popular series of smartphone from Redmi which is the Redmi Note series. Right from the year 2014 when the Redmi Note 1 was launched, these Note series phones become way much popular due to the specifications they provide. If someone needs to get a full packaged phone with good camera and at a reasonable price, he/she should consider the Redmi Note Series phones.

So today we will discuss the features and specification of Redmi Note 12 Pro and see if this phone still maintains its legacy by providing higher value for money.

Redmi Note 12 Pro Design.

The Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G comes with 6.67 inch AMOLED Display with glass back panel design which makes it 187gm.Due to its well managed weight distribution, thickness of 7.98mm and curved rear glass panel, it feels comfortable and sturdy to hold. And to hold both the front and back panel Redmi provides plastic mid frame instead of metal which we think is not a justification with the price this phone comes with, where we are expecting a metal frame.

To provide a superior character to the rear profile, Redmi Note 12 Pro comes in metallic camera module which is painted in the same back colour and as the camera module protrudes out of the back panel, the phone used to wobble over the flat surface. But to overcome this problem we can use a back cover which will make the back panel flat and wobble free for the flat surfaces.

Camera Module

Coming to its right side of the phone where we can find volume rockers and power button that doubles as finger print sensor which is fast enough. At the bottom we can find the dual SIM slot (no hybrid slot), USB Type-C, Speaker grill and primary microphone. And at the top it includes secondary speaker grill which also acts as speaker for call,3.5 mm audio jack, infrared sensor and secondary microphone.

Redmi Note 12 Pro Display.

If you like to consume lots of media over phone then Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G will be a perfect phone at this price range as it bundles a large 6.67-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080x2400 pixels and 120Hz refresh rate. Moreover, its display has a pixel density of 394 PPI which is also as bright as 900 nits which makes it bright enough for sunny day outside. With the support of Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and DCI-P3 it can produce lively vibrant colours make it a very good device for media consumption.

To enhance more the display can be adjusted with colours and contrast un display setting option and there is a dedicated reading mode which cuts off the blue light emission making the display suitable for dark situations. The Dark mode present on the Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G makes the look and feel of the display more prominent along with the 1920Hz High Frequency PWM dimming which helps to remove the flickering under ultra-low brightness.

As a protection for the display the Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection.

Redmi Note 12 Pro Camera.

The Redmi Note 12 Pro bundles a triple camera setup composing a 50 Mega Pixel camera from Sony IMX766, along with an 8 MP ultra-wide-angle camera and a 2 MP camera for macros. The main camera sensor i.e., Sony IMX766 present in this Redmi Note 12 Pro is a very capable sensor which we can find in most of the high end camera phones.

Thus, the photos taken by this phone comes out to be well lit and with enough details but with as usual a warm tint on them. But the images look vibrant and crisp where we can see enough details even after zooming the photos. There is no dedicated telephoto lens but you can zoom the cameras up to 10x with the help of its software but the images are tends to retains its details after 2x zoom.

To enhance the photos more, you can toggle on the HDR and AI mode provided in the phone which makes the photos livelier and more colourful.

The shots taken under portrait mode are well managed with clear edge detection and smooth blur effect of the background. Coming to the wide-angle camera,

Photos captured in the ultra-wide mode are good enough with enhanced colour and contrast without lacking the details for which we can thank the 8Mp ultra-wide-angle camera provided in Redmi Note 12 Pro.

But the shots taken under low light condition are quite good due to the sensors and the night mode provided which makes the images detailed and colourful.

Speaking about the macro shots, the 2 MP camera dedicated for macro photos is doing its job well where we can capture macro images from a very close distance and the resulted shots comes to be amazing, producing good details with ample light making the photo look professional.

Lastly the 16MP front camera produces photos with good details and natural colours but as usual lacks to gain marks under dynamic range.

The photos capture under low light seems to be noisy which is as expected but the under well lit or day light condition the photos are good enough with cut-to-cut edge detection.

Under video section Redmi Note 12 Pro can record videos at 4k resolution at 30fps,1080p at up to 60 fps also it can record in slow motion at 1080p at 120 fps and 720p at 960 fps. Under wide angle it can record videos under 1080p and under macro it can record at 720p.

If you want to record videos with the front camera, it can record the videos at 1080p 60fps.

Redmi Note 12 Pro Performance.

The Redmi Note 12 Pro is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 1080SoC which is an octa core chipset based on 6nm fabrication. It has 2 x A78 CPUs that can provide a speed upto 2.6GHz with the provided Mali-G68 MC4 GPU and 6 x A55 CPUs that are clocked at 2GHz.Combining all these along with its 8 GB LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage it becomes a power house that can easily run high end games.

Although it gets a bit warm while playing high graphic intensive games but due to the presence of 3000mm2 VC liquid cooling with 12-layer graphite sheets it manages to handle the heat without any frame drop or lag during the gaming.

The Redmi Note 12 Pro performs well during day to day uses, we can feel smooth multitasking while toggling between different apps running in the background.

Now let us speak about its UI, Redmi Note 12 Pro comes with Android 12 out of the box with MIUI 13 but the company claims to provide Android 13 update soon. We are disappointed as it is coming with Android 12 as its competitors are already coming with Android 13 out of the box. But nothing to worry as the Redmi Note 12 Pro provides buttery smooth UI experience ad performance with the combination of all the specifications. From its 8GB RAM we gets 7.5 GB usable RAM along with extra 5 GM ram that can be enable from the settings.

The Redmi Note 12 Pro comes with side mounted finger print sensor instead of in display fingerprint sensor besides having an AMOLED display, but the fingerprint sensor provided works flawlessly without any miss. Also it has face unlock feature which also work undoubtedly smooth.

Redmi Note 12 Pro Battery.

The Redmi Note 12 Pro comes with as usual a 5000mAh built in battery that manages to provide a screen on time of about 6 hours under normal uses. And luckily to charge this battery the company is providing a massive 67M charger in the box which can fully charge this phone from 0-50% in 15 minutes and to charge it 100% it takes only 46 minutes.

Redmi Note 12 Pro Verdict.

Maintaining its legacy this time also Redmi has done a fabulous work by launching such a power pack value for money Redmi Note 12 Pro version which range from 24999 to 27999 of price bracket. Neat picking a con we can only find that this phone should come with Android 13 out of the box as like its competitor like Realme.

Considering the specifications we find it to be a good deal under 30000 budget but considering its 50MP camera we don’t think the price setup is justified,atleast we are expecting a 108MP camera as like Redmi Note 10Pro Max which was launched 2 years earlier at a price of 22999.Apart from this one can easily go for this device where you can enjoy multimedia in vibrant colours with immersive audio experience with Dolby Atmos.

And if you want to go with a high-end camera, you can look for its higher variant Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G which comes with 200 MP camera obviously at a higher price that starts from 29999.
